About the Libertad
The Gold Libertad series has been produced by Casa de Moneda de México since 1981 in various sizes. The 1/2 oz version features the same iconic Angel of Independence design as the full ounce coin. Earlier gold Libertads (pre-1991) were struck in .900 fine gold, giving them a distinctive warm color from the copper alloy content. Gold Libertads are known for very low mintages, making them among the scarcest gold bullion coins.
