How to Use Pingcoin

This guide will walk you through the process of authenticating a coin using Pingcoin.

Step 1: Select Your Coin

  1. Open the Pingcoin app
  2. Browse or search for your coin type
  3. Select the exact coin you want to test (e.g., "American Silver Eagle")

Step 2: Prepare for Testing

For best results:

  • Place your coin on a soft surface (like your finger or a cloth)
  • Make sure you're in a quiet environment
  • Have a small metal object ready for tapping (another coin, pen, or similar)

Step 3: Record the Ping

  1. Tap the "Start Recording" button
  2. Gently tap the edge of your coin with the metal object
  3. Let the coin ring for 1-2 seconds
  4. The app will automatically capture and analyze the sound

Step 4: Review Results

The app will display one of two results:

  • Authentic - The coin's acoustic signature matches the expected pattern
  • Not Recognized - The frequencies don't match the reference values

Tips for Best Results

  • Tap the coin gently but firmly
  • Test multiple times for consistency
  • Ensure the coin can vibrate freely
  • Avoid noisy environments
  • Use the ping test alongside other verification methods (weight, dimensions, visual inspection)

Troubleshooting

If you're getting inconsistent results:

  • Make sure the coin isn't resting on a hard surface
  • Try different tapping locations around the coin's edge
  • Check that your microphone isn't obstructed
  • Ensure the coin type selected matches your actual coin
